“Ang salitang Pilipino ay tumutukoy sa isang bansa, ang bansang Pilipino. And sometimes, it’s worth taking a risk for this country.” – Jun Lozada
US$ 262 million contract for ZTE Broadband deal spilled over the newspapers, aired in the television set 24/7, heard from the radio from time to time, and leaked out widely in the Internet. ZTE Broadband deal controversies centers upon accusation of corruption involving government officials from the national government which includes the First Gentleman.
Since Mr. Jun Lozada came out with his interpretation and/or expose on the ZTE scandal, several sectors and prominent people such as Joey de Venecia and Senator Panfilo Lacson called for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s resignation. Filipino people from all over the Philippine archipelago were in fact voicing out for the same request.
Upon deeper reflection, my point of view has had change. Mr. Jun Lozada, the probinsyanong instik, became the newest superhero in town. But he wasn’t really that ‘Superman’ who would play golf in Wack-wack with friends while eating his favourite burger. He wasn’t really the probinsyanong instik who just wears T-shirt to look overly substandard. His lifestyle is fairly different from what he is portraying. How could a probinsyanong instik in T-shirt affords the Wack-wack’s membership fee worth hundred of thousands pesos? How about affording to eat that luxurious burger? I wouldn’t spend thousands of bucks for a burger if I consider myself as someone ‘living below your mean’. He has certainly gained from the government, too. He’s a corrupt man just like any other man living in this exceedingly corrupted country. Well, I think no one is clean enough to say he/she is not a corrupt man.
However, I believe in him saying that Chairman Abalos and Secretary Neri have alleged commission charges from the ZTE deal fund. And also the P500, 000.00 given by Deputy Executive Secretary Manuel Gaite wasn’t really for purpose of helping Lozada in his expenses but rather bribe money to keep his mouth forever shut.
Well, I am not really in full pledge of taking my side to anyone. What I am concerned for is who is telling the truth and who is practicing its greediness for power and authority. Neither you nor I know who’s truthful and who’s not. In reality only God knows.
