Jim and Shelley were linked with their feelings of closeness, safety, and trust towards each other. They have an intimate relationship that is needed to be maintained as healthy as possible. But they end up having a conflicting tension with their relationship when Jim suddenly get interested with her personal writings but Shelley don’t want it to be shown even to his partner.
To Shelley…
I understand your standpoint. I have my own diary as well and I never wanted it to be shown with other people even to those who people who very close to me. I have my personal thoughts, feelings, and emotions that need to kept private. I should have my own privacy too. But considering that you two were bonded with the love you have shown to each other, you must know that Jim just wanted to keep your relationship intact by just simply knowing that there is no secrets hidden between the two of you. He doesn’t own a diary but we all know that he has own secrets too. He was just somehow comparing your way and his own method that is indeed different from each other.
You might be thinking that there are writings in your diary that may cause conflicts, or they may be used for you to be judged unlikely, or other reasons that makes you hesitant of showing it. If you trust him and you know that your indifference and your shortcomings will not be cared of by Jim, then you have to show him that you don’t have any secrets hidden that is affecting him or may affect him simply by showing your diary to him or when you really wanted to keep your privacy, you should let him know about your feelings and thoughts regarding the conflict tension. And the best thing that he could do is understand you and trust you fully.
